A Wyoming County woman will spend 25 years behind bars for killing her husband and burying him in manure on their Attica family farm.

Charlene Mess, 49, was sentenced Thursday after pleading guilty to first degree manslaughter in April.

Investigators say Mess struck her husband, Douglass Mess with pitchfork before shooting him in the back of the head in April 2015. According to prosecutors, Mess then tied her dead husband's hands and feet with bailing wire and dragged him to an electric feed cart, scooped the body up with a skid steer, and drove it out to the manure pile where she buried it.

Mess was sentenced to 25 years in prison followed by five years of post-release supervision.
