An Albion woman is facing felony animal cruelty charges after police say she suffocated her pet dog and cat.

Investigators with the Village of Albion Police Department say Suzanne K. Fredenburg placed plastic bags over the animals' heads until they suffocated.

According to police, the incident happened on October 31 at Fredenburg's home on Lydun Drive in the village.

A search warrant was issued on Fredenburg's home where police say the bodies of both animals were discovered buried in the woman's backyard.

Police say Fredenburg admitted to killing the animals because of an infestation of Bird Mites.

The Humane Law Enforcement Department at Lollypop Farm is helping with the investigation and will be conducting a Necropsy on the animals.
