What the Buffalo Common Council forgot

Posted at 6:39 PM, Dec 12, 2019

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — The Elmwood Crossings project designation was approved by the common council on Tuesday, December 10. But they forgot some things.

"What happened on Tuesday was a procedural error," said David Rivera, (D) Majority Leader, Niagara District.

Last month, the community raised some concerns about protecting the character of the neighborhood. So the Council made some amendments.

Including:

  • Affordable housing
  • Green Space
  • Pedestrian Access
  • Parking

These amendments require state tax credit and the deadline to be approved is on Friday, the 13. So the Council had to call a special meeting Tuesday afternoon to correct their mistake.

This change allows building plans to move forward. Developers expect the project to continue into 2023.
