AMHERST, N.Y. (WKBW) — During the State of the Town address from the Town of Amherst, Brian Kulpa, Town Supervisor, and A.J. Baynes, CEO of the Amherst Chamber of Commerce, presented the future of a few of the Towns biggest projects.

Among those include the former Westwood Country Club, and the Boulevard Mall.

WESTWOOD COUNTRY CLUB
The Town of Amherst and the Mensch Group are currently in talks about developing the sight. The Town calls them "positive".

The plan would be to transform the former country club into a massive park, similar to NYC's Central Park. There is no timetable for the park.

BOULEVARD MALL
The Boulevard Mall has been in need of updates for sometime. The town hopes to create a mixed-use housing/shopping area out of the current mall.

The issue with that, is the fact that the current owner has been unavailable to talk with the town, which has forced Amherst into bringing Albany into the mix.

"We've actually been in talks with the Governor's office directly to try and see if they can get involved" Kulpa said.

The town is actually hoping that the space will become available for purchase, so they can get an owner that is willing to work on the renovations.
