BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — The 35 million dollar newest addition to Main Street in Buffalo is nearing an opening after COVID-19 brought construction to a halt earlier this year.

"That was a challenge but our contractors were on top of it and now we're excited to open up," Cedarland Development Vice President Kevin Dagher said.

The Grid, as the apartment complex is called, is near the corner of Main and Best on a plot of land that sat vacant for more than a decade. It is the largest apartment building under construction in Buffalo and when completed next month, it will have 217 apartments with commercial space on the first floor.

There will be a fitness center, rooftop lounge and space to work from home. Every single room will also come fully furnished.

Rent will range from $850 per month to $1,700 for a two bedroom. It's a price range that the developers hope will attract those coming from the medical corridor and people moving from bigger cities to buffalo to work remotely.

"There's been challenges but we still believe that people are moving into Buffalo," Dagher said, "It's still affordable, the housing market is better than New York City, New Jersey, so I feel like there's going to be an opportunity for people from out of town to come to Buffalo."

The Grid has already seen many apartments leased, but have plenty available. For more information, visit their website here.
