A new snowplowing agreement calls for an annual increase of 3% for the next three years to help keep the roads clear in the winter.

The Erie County Department of Public Works' Highways Division, representing over 30 municipalities, and Erie County have announced the increase, but the new contract still needs to be approved by the Erie County legislature and the Town Boards of each of the municipalities.

The contract is an effort by both sides to ensure public safety of the roads for residents, businesses, and anyone traveling throughout Erie County.

The new contract is expected to take effect in budget years 2016-17 as long as it is approved by the legislature.
