The Erie County Sheriff's Office has arrested a Williamsville man on four felony counts of forgery.

David Miller,51, was arrested after a lengthy investigation into suspicious transactions at the Eastern Hills Mall. Miller is accused of making nearly $20,000 in fraudulent purchases using store accounts he opened using the identities of people who share his name.

Miller's employment at a local collection agency allowed him to find other David Millers in Western New York and use their information to open the store accounts he used to purchase the items.

Miller bought items such as jewelry and smartphones at JC Penney's, Best Buy, Kohls and other retailers.

Miller is a convicted felon. He was arrested for violating the terms of his New York State parole and was incarcerated in the Erie County Holding Center until his arrest for forgery on December 8, by Detective Daniel Brinkerhoff.

In a special and agreed upon recent court proceeding, Miller was convicted and sentenced on four separate counts of forgery.
