While Wegmans is normally ranked among the county's best companies to work for overall, Fortune Magazine's most recent ranking placed the supermarket at number two in the nation for best workplaces for women.

The ranking was based off of a countrywide survey of more than four million people.

“Let’s face it, everyone is working male female, dual income families are pretty standard," Wegmans Consumer Affairs Manager, Michele Mehaffy, says. “Family is really engrained in our culture and it’s engrained in our company and I think that your people see that, they feel it.”

Other women employees praised Wegmans for its openness to work-life balance and opportunity for growth.

“There’s a lot of females in this world that really have to fight and claw their way to the top, you don’t have to do that here," Wegmans Meal Coach, Kimberlee Durak says. Next year you watch out, number one next year."
