Vote postponed in future of Amherst country club

The future of the former Westwood Country Club in Amherst has been delayed due to a notification error.

The Amherst Town Board was due to vote on a draft environmental impact statement on Monday. The board says they did not print the legally-required public notice of the meeting time, which delays the vote by two weeks.

Councilmember Mark Manna said the Westwood Redevelopment Project is going to be a long one, but he is not worried about pushing back the vote.

"I don't see this as much of a setback. In fact, it gives the public two more weeks to look at what we're going to vote on," said Manna.

The board is expected to approve the draft environmental impact statement later this month.

Developers are looking to transform the old golf course into a mixed-use development, with residential buildings and commercial space.
