A statue of the Virgin Mary was vandalized on Tuesday night and was found with an anti-catholic note.
The nearly four-foot statue of the Virgin Mary had been sitting in a garden at the front of St. John Kanty Church on Swinburne Street for the past four years.

The note read in part "this building will be destroyed" and continued to say "stop worshipping Mary, worship God, Catholics are man made religion."

Vandals ripped the statue out of the garden, smashed the head and hands and left it in the parking lot.

"We have great confidence in the people here and the neighborhood and the Buffalo Police. We are sure everything is going to be taken care of," Reverend Mike Burzynski said.

The Statue of Mary was replaced four years at a cost $1,000.

The Church is looking to replace the smashed statue with a new one.

Buffalo Police are investigating.
