Saturday a special candlelight vigil was held in Amherst for Nolan Burch, the Williamsville teenager who died while away at college at West Virginia University.

His death has prompted the University to temporarily suspend all its fraternity and sorority activities.

There were heavy hearts and tears from the dozens of family and friends on the field at Briarhurst Park in Amherst all mourning the death of the 18 year old.

The Canisius High School graduate ultimately fulfilled his dream to become a student at West Virginia University.

But on Wednesday night a frantic call was placed to 9-1-1 from his off-campus frat house Kappa Sigma.

The freshman, majoring in Pre-sports Management wasn't breathing and had no pulse.

He was rushed to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead on Friday two days later.

Word is quickly spreading that his death may have been linked to alcohol although offials have not confirmed any details surrounding his death.
