It was a somber night along the banks of the Niagara River. A memorial marks where Officer Craig Lehner was last seen. Wednesday marks the day on the calendar his body was recovered. Five days earlier, the Buffalo Police Department officer went missing during a diving training exercise.
His friends, family and fellow officers came to remember his life.
“It's an extremely difficult time for us day to day,” explained Robert Mercurio, a BPD officer.
Along the banks of the Niagara, a community mourns and remembers one their finest.
