Victim dies months after Niagara Falls attack

Niagara Falls police say the victim in an August 2016 attack has died.

Police say 44-year-old Cameron Weingartner was assaulted on 69th Street and Edison Avenue.

In August, police said the victim suffered massive head trauma.

After the attack, Weingartner was flown by Mercy Flight to Erie County Medical Center, where he died Friday.

According to Weingartner's online obituary, he had been in the hospital since the assault. Weungartner was a father and employee at Precious Plate in Niagara Falls for 22 years.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4 - 5 p.m. at St. John de LaSalle Church on Buffalo Avenue in Niagara Falls.

Last summer, Donald Sinclair was arrested in connection to the assault.

We're working to find out if charges will be upgraded in this case.
