Vice President Mike Pence was in Lancaster Tuesday to talk about what he calls the largest proposed tax cut in American history and he made a promise to middle class families and small business owners alike.
“Help is on the way,” he repeated throughout his visit to Performance Advantage Company.
There--Vice President Pence toured the tool mounting manufacturer, and held a round table discussion on tax reform with other small business owners from across the area.
Pence calls the GOP tax plan “a middle class miracle” that will put more money in the pockets of middle class families and small business owners.
The President's proposal does things like lower the corporate rate to 20 percent and the pass-through business rate to 25 percent. It would also allow businesses to write off the cost of new equipment in the first year.
“People here across Erie Co. are competing with companies around the world, and so, making sure we have a tax code that takes that into account and encourages investment is very significant,” Vice President Pence said.
Local business owners tell pence current tax codes are too complicated and taxes are too high.
Pence says he plans to take those complaints to congress and sell lawmakers on the president's proposed tax plan.
GOP lawmakers are hoping to pass tax reform by year's end.
