One minute a 25-year-old Chicago woman was drinking at a Chicago bar, the next she was discovered next to a Washington County, Wis. field, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

Lt. Ryan Herman said a concerned citizen notified authorities Wednesday night when they saw a woman walking along HWY 164, near HWY 175 in the town of Polk around 9:24 p.m.

Deputies located the 25-year-old woman, who was very distraught and provided authorities with a false name.

“She was crying and stated she woke up in a nearby field and was wearing clothes that she did not recognize,” deputies said in a Facebook post.

The Chicago woman told deputies that, “she was not a victim of any criminal behavior including any type of sexual assault. She did not want to provide further information and simply wanted to get home to Chicago,” the post says.

Lt. Herman said the woman admitted to having a history of drug use, but said she was not under the influence of a controlled substance when deputies found her. He said deputies did not perform any drug or blood alcohol tests.

Questions still remain as to how she got to rural Washington County from the city of Chicago and authorities still do not know why the woman initially provided deputies  with a false name. After eventually obtaining her true identity, deputies said, “it was determined she was not wanted by any law enforcement agency.”

Deputies then escorted the woman to the Amtrak station in Milwaukee, which it is believed she took a train back to her Chicago home.
