The western New York-based grocery chain Wegmans is making a mark on Washington.
The "Wegmans Wonderplace" children's exhibit opened Wednesday at the Smithsonian. The interactive attraction is in the National Museum of American History's new Innovation Wing.
It's designed to educate children under the age of 6 on the farm-to-table life cycle by letting them do things like plant and harvest pretend vegetables and cook in a kitchen inspired by chef Julia Child.
Rochester-based Wegmans is underwriting the 1,700-square-foot center for the next 20 years.
The chain has 88 stores in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia, Maryland, and Massachusetts.
