A Pennsylvania Christian school teacher has resigned after accidentally leaving her loaded pistol in a bathroom, where elementary school children eventually discovered it, CBS News reports.

Police say Beth Jean Dixon, 63, put her holstered pistol on a toilet tank when she used the school bathroom on Aug. 25. She reportedly forgot about the gun and left.

After several students between the ages of 6 and 8 used the single-toilet, unisex bathroom, one child informed his parents – school officials were then notified.

No one was injured in the incident, for which Dixon was charged with reckless endangerment and endangering the welfare of children.

CBS News reports that before the incident, the school had no policies regarding guns on school grounds.
