Green Party's Jill Stein tied with Harambe in new Texas poll

Green Party's Jill Stein tied with Harambe in new Texas poll

Harambe the gorilla became an internet sensation after his tragic killing in May, but it appears he’s had an influence in the real world, too.

So much that according to a poll released Tuesday, Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein is tied with the deceased gorilla for about 2 percent of the Texas vote, the Daily News reports.

Even more bizarre is that the data, from Public Policy Polling, shows Stein and Harambe both trailing Deez Nuts -- a fictional politician thought up by an Iowa teenager -- who polled at 3 percent.

Hilarious, but Harambe is no real match up against Democrat Hillary Clinton, Republican Donald Trump or Libertarian Gary Johnson.

But why all the fuss over the gorilla?

Minding his own business at the Cincinnati Zoo in late May, Harambe was shot dead after a toddler climbed into the silverback’s enclosure.

The incident brought worldwide attention to his death, and even resulted in one of the biggest memes to hit the internet this year (see some examples below).

Either way, while this all appears to be one big joke, there's just no ignoring the poll results.
