Erie County is collecting comments from the public until December 18, 2018 as to whether the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center in downtown Buffalo should be expanded or a new one constructed:

One of those submitting an idea is Rocco Termini, Chairman of Signature Development.

Termini believes the current convention center should be torn down and replaced with an urban park, similar to Bryant Park in New York City.

The developer thinks a new convention center should be built close to the Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino and inner-harbor area where there is more room for additional hotels and possible future stadium for the Buffalo Bills.

The urban park proposal includes an amphitheater so concerts can be moved from Canalside back into downtown.  (Termini said the Thursday night Canalside concerts will have to be moved eventually as new housing is constructed in the inner-harbor area.)

7 Eyewitness News Reporter Ed Reilly spoke with Rocco Termini to learn more about his idea.
