Unity Island's North Pond ecosystem gets restored

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) - Today, the Unity Island project team hosted a ribbon cutting to commemorate the cleaning of the Island's North Pond.

The ecosystem restoration was a project to control invasive species, sow native plants, and rebuild habitats for fish, birds, and other wildlife critical to Buffalo's shore.

Buffalo District Commander Lt. Col. Adam Czekanski said, "This project reflects our commitment to develop innovative solutions to reverse habitat degradation in the Buffalo-Niagara region."
