UPDATE: Alumni Arena has been reopened.

Original Story: Alumni Arena at the University at Buffalo is closed until further notice because of a small electrical fire Wednesday afternoon.

The fire broke out at 3:30pm while an employment fair was underway, according to UB spokesperson John Della Contrada.

Although the fire was contained and quickly put out, the amount of smoke and power loss to the building prompted officials to evacuate the space.

All intramural and recreation activities are cancelled Thursday.  A news release states that the university does not anticipate cancelling any UB Athletics team events.

Facilities crews are working to restore power as soon as possible.
