UB student wakes up to burglar in his room

Imagine waking up to a stranger taking things from your room.

University at Buffalo Police are investigating a burglary after a student woke up to an unknown suspect doing just that.

Police say the incident happened just after 7:00 a.m. Thursday. in Hadley Village Apartments.

According to UB Police, the victim chased the suspect out of the apartment. The suspect was last seen running south out of the apartment complex.

Officials say there were no threats or injuries reported.

Investigators say the victim described the suspect as a college age black male, about 5' 9", with short hair, full beard, grey hoodie, and black pants.

UB Police say they have searched the area with help from the Amherst Police K9 unit and have determined that the suspect is no longer in the area, but have increased patrols in the area.

University Police Investigators say they are collecting evidence at the scene. They say a canvas of the building shows the suspect only entered apartment 109 D through an unlocked door.

University Police ask everyone to remember to lock doors and windows and to call 645-2222 with any information involving this incident.
