Health staff at the University at Buffalo are reminding the school community to follow basic guidelines to help prevent the spread of the flu on-campus.

In addition to getting vaccinated, students and staff are reminded to wash their hands often, avoid touching their eyes, nose or mouth, and cover their mouths when they cough or sneeze.  They're also reminded not to share personal items or eating utensils, and to wash down work space surfaces like keyboards and phones.

The UB website goes on to say, "students who are sick are asked to stay away from class and public spaces until they are feeling better and to contact their professors to make accommodations to complete coursework.  Employees who are sick should stay home and contact their supervisors."

Any students with severe symptoms can contact Student Health Services at 716- 829-3316.  Students are asked not to walk into the health services area for care to help prevent the flu from spreading.
