Two women in serious condition after head-on crash

Both drivers in a two car head-on crash on Route 39 in the Town of Sardinia Monday morning were sent to the hospital with serious injuries.

Erie County Sheriff's Deputies and the Sheriff's Crash Investigation Unit responded to the crash near Pratham Road after Rebecca Ryan, 19, driving eastbound on Route 39 crossed over the westbound lane, hitting the on-coming westbound car driven by Jean Sprague, 61.

Both drivers were taken by ambulance to the Erie County Medical Center.

The driver who crossed over the lanes has multiple lower body injuries and was scheduled for surgery.

The other female driver who was hit head-on regained consciousness at ECMC and is being examined for possible head and internal injuries.

Both women are in serious condition at this time.

This crash is still being investigated.
