Two weekend shootings could be linked

Buffalo Police have reasons to believe a pair of shootings that killed a teenage girl and seriously injured another could be connect.

The first shooting happened early Saturday evening, killing 15-year-old Shaunice Gamblin. Neighbors found the Burgard High School Student and 16-year-old Davone Wedlington laying near a car, yelling for help. That’s when a neighbor who heard the gunshots saw the getaway car leave.

Paramedics were called to rush both to ECMC, where Gamblin died.

“I believe it was a targeted event but I can't say much more at this time,” Buffalo Police Commissioner Daniel Derenda said.

Investigators believe this deadly shooting maybe linked to a shooting that happened just hours later. The second shooting happened on Glendale near Canisius College.

Ashley Kern, 17, and Marlon Clay, 20, were both shot. As of Monday afternoon, Kern was listed in serious condition and Clay was listed in fair condition.

Police are not releasing much information about either shootings and won’t confirm if it’s gang related or not. Right now officers are pleading with the public for information on both of these shootings.

Family members of Shaunice Gamblin have started this GoFundMe page. They are trying to raise enough more to bury the teenage girl.
