Two Lockport men were assisted out of the Mud Creek water in the Town of Lockport when their kayak overturned just after 10 a.m. Saturday.

Deputies, of the Niagara County Sheriff's Office Marine Patrol Unit, say the eight-foot kayak was turned sideways by the current, then overturned when it struck ice in the waterway.

Members of the Rapids Volunteer Fire company and NCSO Deputies responded to 7000 Rapids Rd. to gain access to the scene.

Due to exposure, both men received treatment at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital. Officials say there were no other injuries.

An investigation continues, Eyewitness News will bring you more information when it's made available.
