Florida Natives in Western New York are nervous to head home after spending the weekend here in Buffalo, especially with the devastation from Hurricane Harvey still fresh on people’s minds.
Stacey Walker is heading home from Buffalo to Tampa and she says she’s been through hurricanes before, but she is still nervous.
As Florida begins to prepare for the Hurricane Irma, shelves begin to empty.
“My daughter was already at the grocery store and there’s no water,” Walker said.
“After what happened to Houston, we want to make sure we are as ready as possible,” Mike Mucci, traveling to Fort Lauderdale, said.
Hurricane Irma has been brewing in the atlantic for nearly a week and while the path is still not known, some Floridians who have been through storms before are not taking any chances with this one.
“I am actually going to evacuate to a higher ground,” Walker said.
