Buffalo's waterfront may be a beautiful sight, but it's more than just that! It's also where an Olympian-launching rowing team practices!

The West Side Rowing Club has sent more than a dozen athletes to the Olympics to represent Team USA throughout its history. It has also sent rowers to the Pan American Games, the World Youth Championships and the European Championships.

Just last week, members of the West Side Rowing Club competed at the US Rowing Youth National Championships in Rancho Cordova, California. They placed 8th and 13th in the nation!

More than 100 years after it was established in 1912, the West Side Rowing Club sits at the foot Ferry Street. It offers classes for both youth and adults and even people with disabilities.

You can give rowing a shot this summer! The West Side Rowing Club offers two summer sessions for 2018, one from July 9th-27th and another from July 30th-August 17th. This camp is open for budding rowers between the ages of 12 and 15. No prior experience is needed, just come ready to learn! You'll learn rowing techniques both on land and water. Camp meets Monday through Friday from 8:30 in the morning until noon each day.

You can learn more about the West Side Rowing Club and register for camp here.
