Tonawanda man sentenced for stealing funds from Volunteer Fire Company

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announced that 36-year-old Timothy Kler has been sentenced to 3 1/2 to 7 years in prison for stealing funds from the River Road Volunteer Fire Company.

Kler served as the treasurer of the fire company and from January 1, 2017 to September 18, 2017 he embezzled $19,486.01.

He forged checks and pocketed cash from fundraisers.

Kler plead guilty to grand larceny in the third degree in April 2018.

He signed a confession of judgment and will be required to pay back $14,486.01 in restitution.
