A Tonawanda man, convicted of making child pornography, will serve 40 years in prison for the crime.

Jason Smith, 36, was sentenced on Wednesday.

According to the District Attorney's Office, in April 2014, Lancaster Police seized several external hard drives from Smith's Byron Avenue home in Tonawanda. Investigators determined that between 2010 and 2012, Smith coerced a victim who was younger than 12-years-old to engage in sexual activity, which he then turned into visual pornography. The victim's father was Smith's friend.

Investigators also discovered that between 2011 and 2013, Smith was having sexual intercourse with a 15-year-old girl he met on MeetMe.com and taking pictures of the act.

Prosecutors say the investigation also discovered that Smith sexually assaulted at least five more underage female victims.
