A Town of Tonawanda man is facing several charges, including manslaughter, for the opioid death of a woman.

According to the Erie County District Attorney, 55-year-old Jon Herrle has been arraigned on an indictment, charging him with manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide and criminal sale of a controlled substance.

Prosecutors say Herrle allegedly gave an extremely intoxicated female companion crushed up opiate pills, telling her it was cocaine, back in September 2016. The woman snorted the powder, overdosed and died.

Herrle pleaded not guilty and was taken to jail without bail. If convicted, he faces a maximum of 15 years in prison.
