Town of Tonawanda police ID body found in burned vehicle

UPDATE 6/21, 8:30 a.m.: Town of Tonawanda Police have identified the victim as 64 year-old Robert House. He was a volunteer firefighter with the Brighton Volunteer Fire Company for more than 40 years and retired from the New York State Thruway Authority.

Town of Tonawanda police officers are investigating after a man was found dead inside of a pick-up truck following a fire.

Around 10:30 p.m. on Monday night, Brighton volunteer firefighters, Town of Tonawanda police and paramedics responded to Wynwood Avenue and Yorkshire Road for a report of a vehicle fire.

Police say neighbors heard a "boom" and called 911. Initial attempts to put out the fire had no effect, but Brighton crews were able to extinguish it.

The body of Robert House of the Town of Tonawanda was discovered inside the truck. Foul play is not suspected at this time.
