Friday will be the first day you can ride Darien Lake's newest roller coaster, Tantrum. The park is holding a ribbon cutting ceremony and grand opening June 1st.
The $5 million addition to the park takes riders on a 98-foot vertical lift at a 90-degree angle up the first hill, then plummets them into a 97-degree drop and "pretzel inversion." Riders will be reaching speeds of up to 52 miles an hour.
Darien Lake opens at 10:00 a.m. on June 1st. The park remains open until 10:00 p.m. The Tantrum is the first of its kind ride in New York State and Ontario, Canada.
