West Seneca Central School District reports a student made a threat to West Seneca East Senior High School over social media Wednesday night.

West Seneca Police immediately investigated and addressed the student and their family about the incident, according to the District.

The District reports no weapons were found and the family and the student were cooperative.

The District and police department are still investigating. The high school was deemed to be safe for students and staff, but extra patrol cars were sent to the school Thursday morning as a precaution.

According to Officer Statz with the West Seneca Police Department, social media took word of the situation and ran with it. Statz told 7 Eyewitness News "everything on social media is false."
