Third deadly accident in WNY on Tuesday

A man was killed in a crash in the Town of Newstead Tuesday within hours of two other deadly crashes in Western New York.

UPDATE: There was a fourth deadly accident in WNY on Tuesday, this time in Allegany County

Deputies say around 5:15pm, two cars collided at Rt. 5 and Barnum Road, closing Rt. 5 and several surrounding streets for several hours.

A man, woman and child were taken from one vehicle to Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the other vehicle, 32-year-old Charles Reno of Basom, was taken to the same hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The crash remains under investigation. It happened within hours of two other deadly crashes took place in Western New York.

The first happened around 2pm in Pendleton. Deputies say 61-year-old Kevin Taylor failed to negotiate a curve and plowed through an empty warehouse. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Thirty minutes later in Cheektowaga, a 70-year-old woman collided with another vehicle on Losson Road. The woman, Joan Giangreco, was pronounced dead at the scene.
