The Now: Later school times could boost economy

Imagine being in high school and getting extra time to sleep in!

Moving the first bell to 8:30AM at high schools nationwide could add more than 9 billion-dollars to the economy a year, according to the Rand Corporation.

Experts say this would improve graduation rates, meaning better jobs, as well as fewer costs linked to sleep deprivation, mental illness and obesity.

Most high schools in Western New York start around 7:30-8:00AM.
