HAMBURG, NY (WKBW-TV — When the weather is nice Jack Edson hangs one of his quilts on the porch. He's been quilting for more than four decades and his artistry has been turning up everywhere. He has a number of eye catching works at the Burchfield Penney Art Center as part of their current Contemporary Portrait show.

Mostly he enjoys quilting portraits of famous artists. Each piece can take him three weeks to complete. Jack says "I did my first portrait quilt about twenty years ago and people loved it and it was something that separated my work from every other quilter."

This current show runs at the Burchfield Penney Art Center through June 2nd. Jack Edson will have another of his works in an upcoming show here called Art in Craft Media 2019. Jack says "the encouragement I get from people-encourages me to do not only more but better."
