A travel website has named Buffalo as one of the top six candy destinations in the world.
SmartTravel.com recognizes Buffalo as the "sponge candy capital of the world" and gives a hat tip to famed local confectioners Watson's Chocolates, Fowler's Chocolates, Antoinette's Sweets in Depew, and Alethea's Chocolates in Clarence.
The site also ranked Zurich, Switzerland (home of Lindt), Dubai, UAE (home to Candylicious, a 10-thousand square foot candy store featuring more than 500 candy varieties), Nuremburg, Germany (for its spiced-infused chocolates), Copenhagen, Denmark (Danes consume the most candy of anyone in the world!), and Hershey, Pennsylvania.
