We hear so much about the opioid problem and how it destroys families and lives. But what is it like to actually be a person addicted to pain pills and then switching to heroin?
Doug Bisher from Lockport has taken that dark path through life. After getting addicted to narcotic pain medication from his doctor, Bisher then went to heroin and his life spiraled completely out of control.
7 Eyewitness News obtained pictures from Bisher's home in 2015 that showed needles and heroin paraphernalia scattered around. Bisher was also arrested on multiple occasions for felony drug charges and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
However, Bisher has now been clean for 5 months and he is turning his life around by talking to other addicts about this devastating problem.
Tonight at 6 p.m., 7 Eyewitness News reporter Ed Reilly will talk with Doug Bisher about his difficult journey and how he hopes to save others with his efforts.
