A downed juvenile bald eagle the Erie County SPCA is now nursing back to health is flying once again.

The SPCA's Wildlife Department staff found the bird nearly dead late in the evening on July 1 near a cottage on Lake Ontatario.

When volunteers and the SPCA's wildlife veterinarian, Dr. Karen Slote, began treating the eagle, it couldn't stand. But after more than a week of rehabilitation, the eagle is now flying around an outdoor enclosure.

Volunteers are now feeding the eagle to help it gain weight so it can be released back into the wild.
