There's a new pup in town, in the form of a baby seal and it's calling Niagara Falls, NY home.

For the first time in 30 years, the Aquarium of Niagara is welcoming a Harbor Seal pup to the family. The pup, who currently weighs between 15 and 20 pounds, is bonding nicely with first-time mom Zoey, who was brought to the aquarium as a pup herself.

The pup, whose gender has yet to be indentified is still waiting on a name, but is already a hit with the staff and the community.

Executive Director Gary Siddall said, "over the next two weeks or so we will announce more details about this little one, but we've already got a name in mind, once we find out the sex."

While the excitment over this new addition is building, so is awareness.

"Seeing the bond between mom and baby is very special, for all of us. Then you realize that Zoey was brought here too for a very specific reason and has survived under tough circumstances. Hopefully this opens up a bigger conversation about conservation and working together as a community to help these animals," Siddall expressed.

The Aquarium of Niagara is open 7 days a week, with doors opening at 9 a.m. For more details on tickets, visit their website
