A 14-year-old girl is charged with criminal mischief after damaging the hood of a police car.

Cheektowaga Police say on April 16, a group of teens left the Walden Galleria outside the Regal Cinemas around 8:30 p.m. and walked by a marked Cheektowaga Police car.

The car was parked and unoccupied, according to officers. The 14-year-old ran up to the police car, walked on the hood of the car and then jumped off, according to officials.

Officers say when they came out of the mall, a Galleria Security officer told them what happened and pointed out the girl you jumped on the car.

Officers approached the girl and said she was uncooperative. Police say the girl ignored them when they asked her to stop and talk with them. At this point, officers say the girl said, "I ain't stopping; you are going to have to fight me."

The officers say they eventually calmed her down and she gave them her name, which turned out to be fake.

Police say the incident caused $425 worth of damage to the hood of the police car.

Officers found the girl's real identity through investigation. She was arrested and charged with criminal mischief as a juvenile on April 27. Police say she was released to her parent on an appearance ticket. She will be prosecuted in family court.
