The Town of Marilla teen accused of causing the death of a 2-year-old boy was sentenced to 20 years today, according to Erie County Court officials.
18-year-old Devon Vanderwege plead guilty to manslaughter after police arrested him for causing blunt force trauma that resulted in 2-year-old Ethan Bigham's death.
Ethan Bigham's paternal grandmother confirmed to 7 Eyewitness News, that the 2-year-old suffered catastrophic brain injuries and was pronounced brain dead at Women and Children's Hospital earlier this year. The toddler was being kept on life-support so his organs could be donated.
Emergency crews were called to Hillside Estates, a mobile home park in Marilla, last year, where the two-year-old was being watched by Vanderwege.
