Take it easy Western New York.

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for all of Western New York from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m.

An Air Quality Alert is issued when the air you breathe may become unsafe, especially for people who suffer from asthma or elderly. On hot summer days, pollutants such as ground-level ozone from the exhaust of cars and factories mix in with the oxygen we breathe.

Sunlight creates chemical reactions between oxides of nitrogen and volatile organic compounds, according to the EPA.
