A SWAT team is assisting officers with the Lewiston Police Department in an active investigation on Albright Road near Townline Road in Lewiston early Thursday morning.
Officers were first called to the scene around 4 a.m. A 7 Eyewitness News photographer witnessed a helicopter flying overhead. A staging area was set up by Lewiston police at Immaculate Conception Church near the corner of Albright Road and Townline Road.
Police say a man in his 40s was distraught and threatened self harm. He also threatened to hurt anyone who came near his home. Police say this was not a hostage situation.
Three people, including the man, made it out of the house safely.
A big concern was making sure neighbors were safe.
Police have not released the man's name.
