Alain Kaloyeros - President of SUNY Polytechnic Institute - has formally resigned, according to the New York Daily News.

Kaloyeros has been on unpaid administrative leave since prosecutors accused him of helping grant big ticket contracts to preferred companies. He faces both federal and state criminal charges.

Kaloyeros is one of nine of Governor Cuomo's associates, named by US Attorney Preet Bharara in a large-scale fraud, corruption, and bribery scandal. Kaloyeros is denying the charges.

The former SUNY Polytechnic President is technically still employed as a professor, but he is currently on unpaid leave from that position as well.
