A new study by housing website Abodo shows Buffalo as the most anti-gay city in the country
The company scanned millions of tweets from June 2014 to December 2015. According to its findings, Buffalo sent more tweets using slurs against the LGBTQ community than any other city: 168 per every 100,000.
"It's difficult to say for sure what people actually mean when they are tweeting without having that type of context," said Matthew Crehan Higgins, Senior Director of the Pride Center of Western New York.
Abodo scanned for key words but the context in which they were used was not published.
Buffalo also made the top ten for most anti-black tweets: 52 per every 100,000.
In July, a map put together by the Washington post showed Main Street as the racial divide as the city, ranking Buffalo as the 14th most segregated city in the United States.
