Do you look for the cheaper gas because 'it's all the same'?

Turns out...that may not be the case. According to a new study from AAA, gasoline that meets "TOP TIER" standards keeps engines 19 times cleaner than lower quality gasoline.

The lower quality fuel left behind more carbon deposits, which they say are known to reduce fuel economy, increase emissions, and negatively impact vehicle performance. The difference is even worse in newer vehicles.

AAA says the higher quality fuel costs on average three cents more per gallon.

The following gasoline brands meet "TOP TIER" standards:

  • 76
  • Aloha Petroleum
  • Amoco
  • ARCO
