A man who told police he was taking driving lessons is now facing several charges after crashing into an empty warehouse Friday evening.
Witnesses told police a car was going at a high rate of speed on Young Street near the old BJ's building in the City of Tonawanda when it went airborne, slid along the top of a guardrail and vaulted into the building.
Police say the driver, 20-year-old Micah Ashford of Tonawanda, told them he was taking driving lessons and going "way too fast." Neither Ashford or his 17-year-old female passenger were injured.
Ashford is charged with reckless endangerment, reckless driving, no drivers license, imprudent speed and unsafe tires.
