The actions by some NFL players to not stand during the playing of the National Anthem has become a hot topic across the nation and here in WNY. Players were angry with Twitter comments that President Trump made saying players should be "fired" for not standing during the National Anthem.
Those comments resulted in many NFL players across the nation either sitting or kneeling, and in some cases not coming onto the field, during the playing of the National Anthem.
7 Eyewitness News Reporter Ed Reilly went out today to hear what people thought - especially veterans. While some thought the players had the right to express their opinions, others felt it was bad timing because the playing of the National Anthem during NFL games is meant to honor all those who fought and died for this country's freedoms.
